Ohio Foodbanks Awarded $15 Million to Purchase Dairy & Other Protein Sources
The Ohio Controlling Board recently approved a $15 million dollar proposal to help Ohio’s foodbanks restock their shelves with locally sourced dairy, livestock and poultry protein sources, including milk, cheese, yogurt and cottage cheese. This is great news for dairy and families in need!
ODPA was instrumental in making this happen. Together with Ohio’s livestock and poultry associations, ODPA crafted the funding proposal and request letter that was submitted to the state’s legislative leaders. ODPA's lobbyists, Jen Lynch and Kevin DeWine, tirelessly advocated for the program and funding with Governor DeWine and leadership of the House and Senate.
The funds will be used by Ohio’s 13 regional foodbanks to work with Ohio-based farms and processors to purchase, transport, store, and distribute livestock, dairy, and poultry protein products for Ohioans in need.
